SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Samsung inheritor Lee Jae-yong, the de facto chief of South Korea’s most profitable enterprise group, was sentenced Friday to 5 years jail for providing bribes and different crimes.
Lee, 49, was groomed to steer the conglomerate that was based by his grandfather and have become such a dominating drive in South Korea that it is mockingly referred to as “Republic of Samsung” by the general public.
He took the next profile position on the world’s largest maker of smartphones, tv units and microchips that energy client electronics after his father suffered a coronary heart assault in 2014 and was poised to cement management.
